The avalanche danger on the Manti Skyline is rated MODERATE.
There are scattered areas where a person could trigger a pocket from recently deposited wind drifted snow.
These don't pose a huge threat but might knock you around if you get caught off guard.
The most likely place to find these is in upper elevation north through east facing terrain.

Weather and Snow
Current Conditions: The recent weather event only left a trace of new snow. Wind from the southwest has really ramped up. There are gusts into the 50mph range along the most exposed peaks. Overnight temperatures were in the mid 20s.
Mountain Weather: We'll see mostly cloudy skies this morning then things should start to break and clear this afternoon. High temperatures will stay in the mid 20s. Wind from the west will be strong still this morning but will slow as the day goes on. Another storm will brush our area Monday into Tuesday as it slides by to our north. This will only bring clouds to our region. I'm not seeing any significant storm over the next week.

Fresh deposits of wind drifted snow may crack out on you today. I'm not really sure what to expect as far as a loading pattern. Strong wind like we had last night can really stir things up. Sometimes with really strong wind, the drifts are so scattered and stubborn they don't pose much threat to people. Drifts and slabs will be most prominent in the higher terrain on north through east facing slopes, especially right along and below ridges.
Bottom Line: Avoid pillowy looking drifts that have formed on steep slopes to avoid trouble today.
