I figured I'd put this up as I forgot to report it when it happened. First storm of the year and I thought there was a chance Main chute would maybe go with the wind direction/ it absolutely dumping and being heavier snow, I waited until the evening to do it.. About 1/2 way up the shoulder I figured there would be a slab. I continued up to investigate out of curiosity. Low and behold the top of the ridge was windstripped and there was a slab. I intentionally ski cut the slope and the whole slab ripped out leaving a sizeable crown for October 4th. I didn't get any good pictures. I decided not to go down as the visibility was horrendous/ foggy and booted back up and out. Had a heck of a time getting down the mountain, the ridge wasn't really skiable, So I ended up traversing into snowbird and picking my way downclimbing through some cliffbands. I was frothing to ski as it had been 3 months.. I really just should have skied collins. Posting as a reminder that windslabs don't care about the date.
