Comments
I discovered this R4D3 slide today while up on top of Hoyt Peak. It appears that the steep terrain just below the cornices over loaded failing on the pre-storm snow then quickly stepped down to our PWL, finally scouring all of the snow to the ground taking the full seasons snow pack to the valley floor. There was about 14 inches of new snow on warm dirt and ground rubble today. Several dead standing beetle killed trees were sent flying and a few even made it to the apron. The slab failed north then propagated all the way to solid east.
