We headed into Porter Fork anticipating that there would be pretty good bonding of the new snow to the old surfaces based on Dave's forecast and the warmth/texturing of the old snow after a few days of heat-beating, but 'twas not really the case; as we skinned up we saw naturals that had already ran on the steep gully walls (see pics), so realized we needed to be a bit more careful than cavalier. We guessed that those 8-inch or so "crowns" were due to the relatively intense PI that came in overnight and indeed continued through the morning. There was no real slab development because the winds that may have affected the upper Cottonwoods some were not really in play in the more-protected Mill Creek, but seeing small naturals on steep rolls kept us from tickling the dragon on bigger steep lines. We guessed that as the showers got less-frequent and less-intense over the course of the day that the 'pack would settle quickly - as spring storms are sometimes wont to do - and indeed by mid-afternoon I tried to cut a couple of steep-but-benign gully walls and they didn't move. That said, there also seemed to be at least one inter-storm layer of a sliding interface; seemed like there was the overnight layer that naturaled and then the during-the-day add-on. But could all "settle" tonight and adjust quickly? That said, in PoFo there wasn't the 21" that was reported in the Cottonwoods.
