Weather Comments
Skies were overcast with light snow and broken clouds with sun poking through. Very spring like day. We never felt any green-housing that was too strong and had some turns where we had small loose rollerballs. There were a couple periods with light snowfall that didn't accumulate very much. Winds were calm to light blowing from the south.

Snow Characteristics Comments
Snow surface was a mixed bag. Mostly 1"-2" of settled new snow with a melt freeze crust that was still frozen above 9,500' and below that elevation it was still a damp old snow surface. We saw some minor new snow dry loose sloughing on steep north and east facing slopes in upper Days Fork and near Wolverine Cirque.
Avalanche Problem #1
Problem
New Snow
Problem #1 Comments
Photo of shallow skier triggered dry loose avalanches running on a density change in the new snow.

Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
Wind Drifted Snow
Problem #2 Comments
Photo of cornice build up on a north and northeast facing ridgeline at 10,400' in elevtion.
Today, we traveled as though it was a LOW danger day with Normal Caution. We only exposed one skier at a time to steep slopes and looked for, but didn't find any steep terrain that had recent wind loading. The cornices were large on the ridgelines, but we gave them space and found good travel on smooth lower angle surfaces that hadn't been affected by last weeks warm up.
