Most slopes we traveled on either had no slab, a deteriorating slab, or a thin slab. In these locations, stability tests did not produce unstable results. On a heavily wind-loaded slope, we found a 15" thick 1-finger hard slab sitting above a thin melt-freeze crust and a layer of facets. In this location we had unstable test results ECTP 15 and ECTP20 both failing on facets below the m/f crust. Traveling around it was easy to find the melt-freeze crust with facets below. The depth varied but was commonly 6-12" below the surface.
