Active winds in the alpine. North winds blowing snow to the south.
Small cornice fall on a south facing slope loaded by the north winds.
Views of the big peaks were mostly obscured today but when I was able to have a look around I saw no recent avalanche activity. Seems like we haven't gotten quite enough new water weight and wind to make a big difference as far as stability goes. My stability tests reflected the basal facets and the inferface between the large grain facets deep in the pack and the smaller grain facets just below mid-pack as the weakest interfaces. The weak snow pack structure is enough to keep me on my toes.
Still pretty pretty lowtide in the Uintas but this storm helped out a lot. While there are still lots of obstacles just barely covered, the riding and sliding were my best of the year.
