The American Avalanche Institute's Avalanche Level 2 course offers a comprehensive introduction to avalanche awareness and safe backcountry travel and is designed for backcountry skiers, snowboarders, and riders who have completed Avalanche Level 1 and Avalanche Rescue and want to deepen their decision-making and leadership skills in avalanche terrain. This course is recognized by the American Avalanche Association and focuses on advanced snowpack interpretation, avalanche processes, and strategic terrain management. Participants gain practical experience in leading small groups, analyzing complex conditions, and refining rescue under challenging scenarios. Course Format:

Self-Paced Online Learning: Complete online modules to review Level 1 concepts and build new knowledge of advanced avalanche processes.

Live Online Session: Meet with your Course Leader to discuss key concepts, case studies, and prepare for fieldwork.

Field Days: Three full days on snow applying advanced hazard assessment, leading group decision-making, and practicing rescue in realistic conditions
