"The coordinates on my marker are near the toe. I would guess it ran 200 + feet. I can't say for sure that it had not released when I crossed above it at about noon, but I think I would have seen it from above. ENE aspect.
Tracks everywhere; obviously, people had been sledding on the whole area."

We could see this recent cornice fall avalanche from a distance early this afternoon... Very warm temperatures are causing these cornices to buckle and some like this one, to naturally calve off large chunks.
Sid told us that the very large pieces of cornice in the debris pile under Grandfather Cornice are the size of an enclosed snowmobile trailer! The extensive debris pile covers numerous recent sled tracks. T Weed
