There is a MODERATE avalanche danger today along the upper ridgelines where a person may trigger a lingering wind drift. These will not be as sensitive as they were on Monday and will be less likely to be triggered. If you avoid freshly formed drifts, the avalanche danger is generally LOW

Weather and Snow
Current Conditions: The southerly wind continued to blow in the moderate speed category for most of the day on Monday and even increased a bit overnight. It is hinting at slowing down now. Temperatures were very mild overnight with most stations staying in the mid to upper 30s. The snow surface became damp on most aspects Monday. There may be a little dry settled powder still on the highest due north facing slopes.
Mountain Weather: It looks like another nice start to the day today with mostly clear skies and warm temperatures. Highs should get into the mid 40s today. We'll see increasing clouds late today and a small storm will move through tonight into Thursday bringing a few inches of snow.
Recent Avalanches
There were a number of snowmobile triggered avalanches on Monday. Southerly wind drifted snow and made drifts that were pretty sensitive. The avalanches were in what I call the "manageable" category. They weren't all that large and didn't pose that much threat of burial unless you triggered one above a terrain trap like a gully where the snow could pile up deep. They were large enough to carry a person or knock a person off their machine. I'll have details posted this morning in our AVALANCHE LIST.
