Route Description
2.5 mile/1500’ elevation gain up to the pass that offers stunning views of the upper Porter Fork basin and the summits of Gobbler’s Knob and Mt. Raymond. The trail is accessed either via the Bowman Fork/Terrace Hills area (3.7 miles up from the Mill Creek entrance booth) or by walking up Porter Fork (3.4 miles up from the Mill Creek entrance booth) for a little over a quarter mile, then heading back north along the access road. Infrequent avalanches occur into some of the steeper gullies of the switchbacks. Dogs are allowed in Mill Creek with alternating on/off leash days – check with the Forest Service for recent policy/schedules. The Forest Service charges a nominal day fee for canyon recreation. Season passes are also sold.
