Comments
With more snow incoming and in preparation for possible control work, we decided to get some eyes on Circle Awl Slide Path. We suspected steep E>SE facing might harbor the same crust (Feb 9th RR) which played a role in avalanches reported yesterday, Feb 15th. The path still had a significant amount of shrubbery visible and we agreed an avalanche, if triggered, could not reach the highway. As we worked our way down the SW shoulder, relatively flat in some spots, we remotely triggered nearly all E>SE steep terrain from well over 200' away. On SE, the bed surface was a stout 3-4 cm thick crust. Transitioning around to E, the bed surface softened to 1F- and no crust.
