During our Level 1 Avalanche Course today we were talking about the avalanche paths off East Peak, the recent massive avalanche, and the 2003 incident. And then a loose snow avalanche begun. Neat for the course participants to see. This ran to about 7500.
We observed a smaller loose snow avalanche off the East aspect of Robert's Horn. The start zone was perhaps a few hundred feet more in elevation but similar (Second Video) : https://youtube.com/shorts/lpoatEmb3zM
These triggered at 11:20am, with some warming and sun beginning to barely hit these start zones.
Supplemental (sorry, no time to submit a full observation today): We dug three pits just below the southern ridge up UFO Bowls. 8850' NNE-N aspects. Results: 2x CTN, 4x ECTX. Height of snow was 175cm, PWL was 100cm from the snow surface. Very dense hard slab on top of PWL.
