current conditions OK people! It looks like we've most likely passed the most dangerous period for human triggered avalanches that we'll see this season. That doesn't mean that we can go out and just punch any slope we want to like last spring. Lots of things can still happen and it's all dependent on what the weather does. My current thinking is that as the newest snow settles into the existing snowpack, human triggered avalanches are going to be quite a bit more stubborn to release. That said, I'm not really changing my habits and I'll continue to avoid many of my favorite big steep slopes because I don't completely trust the snowpack. |
