bottom line

The avalanche danger is HIGH in the upper elevation steep slopes that face northwest, north and east. Human triggered avalanches are likely on these slopes today. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended which means staying off of and out from underneath steep slopes.

Today is a likely day for an avalanche accident. Nice weather and fresh snow will entice people into the backcountry where the avalanche conditions remain dangerous.

THE STORM HAS PASSED BUT THE AVALANCHE DANGER WILL REMAIN ELEVATED OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. WITH NICE WEATHER IN STORE MONDAY AND TUESDAY, THESE WILL BE LIKELY DAYS FOR PEOPLE TO VENTURE INTO AVALANCHE TERRAIN. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED AND HUMAN TRIGGERED AVALANCHES ARE VERY LIKELY.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. South southwest wind around 10 mph.
Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Southwest wind around 10 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Wednesday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Southwest wind around 11 mph becoming south southeast after midnight. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Thursday: Snow. High near 40. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Thursday Night: Snow. Low around 30. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Friday: Snow. Cloudy, with a high near 36.
