current conditions Collapsing of the snowpack continued to be reported from the backcountry on Tuesday. The collapses seem to be a little more "localized" rather than the type that rumble for far distances away from you. This is consistent with an unstable snowpack after a week of no snow or significant wind. Things will continue to become less sensitive each day until we see another significant snow load or wind load. The important thing is that the weak snow deeper in the snowpack is still present and will be for the foreseeable future. We will no doubt see more avalanche activity caused by the weak snow that formed earlier this season. |
