bottom line

The avalanche danger remains generally LOW again today. Keep in mind that you may be able to trigger some wet loose snow avalanches on very steep slopes that become really wet later today. To avoid trouble, stay off of and out from under very steep slopes after they become excessively wet. Also, avoid large cornices as it is difficult to predict when they will break off.

Avalanche conditions are fairly safe right now. There are a couple of things to keep in mind during this time of the season.

  • The chance for triggering a loose wet avalanche increases during the day as the snow becomes wet and sloppy
  • Cornices are large and should not be trusted. They often start to break off at this time of the season especially during warm days.

Spring weather continues through the week with mild temperatures. A minor "brush-by" storm will move through northern Utah on Thursday but won't effect us much in central Utah. Weather models are continuing to advertise fairly healthy looking storms mid week next week.
